Provident Credit Union and NBC Sports Bay Area were thrilled to announce "Profe" Pamela Lim-McAlister of Albany High School as the recipient of the 2024 All-Star Teacher Award. During an exciting on-field ceremony at Oracle Park, before the San Francisco Giants took on the Chicago Cubs, Lim-McAlister was presented with a $30,000 award. Each of the All-Star Teacher Award finalists also received $2,000 for their schools.
The All-Star Teacher Award, which started in 2007, has recognized the incredible dedication of middle and high school teachers in Northern and Central California. This year, for the first time, the award was extended to include elementary school teachers, making the celebration even more special. This marked the 13th year that NBC Sports Bay Area partnered with Provident Credit Union to honor these inspiring educators.
This year’s finalists were selected based on their overall commitment, excellence in teaching, rapport with students, and level of distinction. The 2024 finalists were:
- Chris Scharfenkamp from Lorin Eden Elementary School in Hayward
- Joseph McLean from Spring View Middle School in Rocklin
- Mike Davey from Saratoga High School in Saratoga
- "Profe" Pamela Lim-McAlister from Albany High School in Albany
- Sarah Mauhay from Joseph Weller Elementary School in Milpitas
