Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

This month, we recognize Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. It is a time to reflect on the history and accomplishments of our Asian Pacific Islander communities, celebrate their contributions to society and invest in advancements for future generations.

In honor of APA Heritage Month, Provident hosted an employee volunteering event at the Florence Fang Community Farm in San Francisco, where volunteers assisted farm organizers with various tasks. The Florence Fang Community Farm started out as the Florence Fang Asian Community Garden, with a focus on serving Asian immigrants and sharing Asian gardening culture but now have expanded their mission to focus on the wider intergenerational and ethnic diversity that defines the local community.

In addition, Provident has donated $1,500 to Stop AAPI Hate. This organization was launched by the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University in response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry. The center tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
