Provident Offers Two Scholarships!
Every year, Provident Credit Union offers two scholarships for Provident members: one for
those seeking a teaching credential, and one for high school seniors entering college. For more details,
click on a heading below:
Attention Future Educators
The 2006 California Teaching Credential Scholarship is a one-time award of $2,500
for those members interested in obtaining their California teaching credential and have
already completed their baccalaureate degree or are in their final undergraduate term.
The requirements to qualify for this scholarship are that individuals:
- Must be a member of Provident Credit Union
- Must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be enrolled in the education department of an accredited university or college for the 2006 summer or fall semester
- Must major in a subject commonly taught in the schools of California

College Bound High School Seniors
The 2006 Provident College Scholarship is a $1,000 per year, four-year renewable
scholarship. It is designed to encourage graduating high school seniors to seek higher
education in fields of importance to the not-for-profit cooperative credit union movement.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants:
- Must be a Provident Credit Union member
- Must be a 2006 graduating high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must plan to enroll full-time in a college, community college, or university for the 2006 Fall semester
- Must major in the field of financial services, business, accounting, marketing, computer science, or related fields
The award winner may renew the scholarship for an additional three years, or
until college graduation, whichever comes first, provided the following criteria are met:
- Remain a member of Provident
- Maintain a college GPA of at least 3.0
- Submit annually a certified transcript of college grades for the previous two semesters or three quarters, whichever applies
- Submit annually a letter certifying your intent to remain in the qualifying field of study
- Ensure that your college submits annually to Provident Credit Union a copy of your registration/enrollment
