Message from the CEO

So little time, so many things to accomplish. This adage seems to take on more meaning every day. The good news is that Provident is making impressive headway in our goal to be the Bay Area's financial institution of choice. Here is an overview of the first half of 2008:

ATM Deposit Upgrade Completed

The streamlining of the deposit process has been completed at all of our ATMs. This upgrade eliminates the need for completing a deposit ticket or using envelopes. All you need to do is endorse the check and when prompted, feed it into the ATM. You'll receive a scanned image of the checks you deposit for confirmation. You also have the ability to deposit cash with up to 99 bills per transaction. This environmentally-friendly process saves time and less paper is wasted.

On-the-Spot Check Card Issuance

We've begun issuing Visa® Check Cards at the time a checking account is opened. This provides cardholders with instant convenient access, the ability to choose their own PINs and increased security.

New San Ramon Community Branch in the Works

Construction of Provident's newest branch in San Ramon is moving forward. The spacious 3,300 square foot building is located in The Plaza at Gale Ranch at 11030 Bollinger Canyon Road, Suite 190. The branch is slated to open in the first quarter of 2009.

Scholarships Awarded

Provident recently awarded its annual Teaching Credential Scholarships to Christina Trujillo and Jennifer Chapman, with Shannon Hobbs as the honorarium recipient. We also awarded our annual College Scholarship to Janell Harding and an honorarium scholarship to Loraine Johnson. Congratulations to all of you and best of luck in your endeavors.

Online Account Access

At the time of writing, we just launched our new online banking and bill pay service. The upgrade brings many enhancements noted elsewhere in this newsletter. Meanwhile, we thank you for your patience as we recognize it caused service interuptions to many as we moved to the new service. We chose this new system and provider because of the many benefits offered over our previous system. We hope you'll take advantage of the new features.

I am proud to say that Provident continues to be the workplace of choice for our staff. For the fourth year running, we were named among the top 50 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area. And I believe we have the best employees in the business.
